Workgroups

The Latinx Alliance is on a mission to ignite meaningful and lasting change for Latinx communities throughout Georgia. We center our approach around three core workgroups: Advocacy & Policy, Leadership Development, and Transformative Narrative.

Each member of our alliance plays a vital role in these groups, working together on high-impact initiatives designed to educate, inspire, and drive systemic change. Our destiny is Georgia’s destiny.

Advocacy & Policy

We believe in the power of leveraging community knowledge. Our Advocacy & Policy workgroup amplifies the diverse needs of our vibrant communities in the political space.

Together, we champion crucial policies that impact Latino and Hispanic individuals, such as Title 42 and legislation affecting public education for undocumented immigrants. 

  • We have amplified the concerns of local Latinx leaders to larger stages. Our accomplishments include:

    • Enlightening legislators and allies on issues relevant to Latino, Latina, and Latinx leaders.

    • Collaborating with partners on the impact of the legislature HB 1105.

    • Celebrating our culture with Latino Day right at the Capitol’s front yard

  • We will keep zeroing in on the state- and federal-level issues that matter most to Latinxs in Georgia, like:

    • Addressing the rising price tags of secondary education for Georgians.

    • Eliminating the extra hurdles Latinxs and immigrants go through to obtain a state-issued driver’s license.

    • Empowering Latinxs to engage with local leaders and politicians.

    • Hosting the spaces where other Latinxs feel safe when share their concerns.

    • Leading the conversation on the threat of mass deportations, educating others on its fallacies, challenges, and helpful resource

Transformative & Narrative Change

Our Transformative Narrative workgroup is committed to reshaping the perception of Latinos across the state. We affirm our identities, narratives, and history to take ownership of the stories that impact policies and power. Together, we set out to break the monolith, disrupt systemic racism, and become the champions of our own voice.

  • From nationwide to local-side scales, we fight the misinformation plaguing our community. We have combatted hateful rhetoric by:

    • Developing the all-inclusive report State of Latinos in Georgia in collaboration with The Latino Community Fund (LCF Georgia), Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) Atlanta, Ser Familia, Neighborhood Nexus, and Brandshake Creative.

    • Celebrating our culture with Latino Day right at the Capitol’s front yard.

  • We will keep giving voice to the realities of the Latinx story in the following ways:

    • Celebrating the big and small wins of our community, giving confidence in our Latinidad beyond Hispanic Heritage Month.

    • Combatting misinformation surrounding Latinxs to non-Latino Georgians, especially against the context of nationwide, anti-Latinx rhetoric.

    • Leverage the power of storytelling to showcase the positive impact of Latinxs in Georgia.

Leadership Development

Engaging new leaders is a priority both in our own spaces and new ones. Our Leadership Development workgroup supports and fosters relationships that propel Latinx excellence. We’re committed to supporting our peers in the ways they need, whether through keeping mutual accountability, creating mentorships and workshops, or providing emotional support. We’re shaping our future in Georgia, starting with those who will help lead it.

Leadership Development Scholarship

We invest in the future of Latinos, Latinas, and Latinxs, and Georgia at large. Our Leadership Development Scholarship is designed to empower and support our community’s emerging leaders and aims to provide financial assistance to a transformative leadership program. 

Since May 2024, we have successfully provided four scholarships, including for Leadership DeKalb, Hispanics in Philanthropy, and others. With the help of our partners and allies, we have awarded over $10,000 in scholarships to date, further solidifying our commitment to an improved, diverse Georgia. 


New scholarships open every quarter for active Latinx Alliance members. Please complete the application below to learn more about scholarship qualifications and request funding support for our leadership program.

    • Must be an active member of the Latinx Alliance

    • Demonstrated community and/or leadership engagement

    • All leadership programs will be reviewed by a selection committe

The Growth Collective Mentorship Program

The Latinx Alliance is passionate about cultivating Georgia's next generation of emerging Latino, Latina, and Latinx leaders. Our new mentorship program, the Growth Collective, pairs emerging leaders with experienced mentors for guidance, skill-building, and visibility. Over a six-month period, mentors will provide mentees with community and professional intelligence, career guidance, and more directed one-on-one support. The program will also emphasize mentorship programs' bidirectional learning opportunity, where mentors and mentees lean toward learning from one another. 

Leadership Program Accomplishments

To bring about an inclusive Georgia, we nurture those ready to cultivate their place here — the next generation of Latino, Latina, and Latinx leaders.

  • Watering the seeds cultivates a bountiful harvest. We invest in the future of Georgia, starting with those who will help lead it. Our contributions include:

    • Awarding four scholarships, amassing a total of $10,000 in educational investments.

    • Developing networks for local businesses to invest in future Georgian leaders.

  • We will keep creating the frameworks for leadership development, scholarship, and mentorship programs, coming to fruition in the following ways:

    • Continuing to build partnerships with local organizations to support emerging leaders.

    • Expanding scholarship, training, and mentorship programs to more participants.

    • Partnering with schools and educational programs to engage in leadership development with future leaders.
